Kaombo Offshore Angola

Offshore treatment and deaeration experience for deepwater operation in warm West African seawater conditions.

Global Footprint, Deepwater Proven

Kaombo is a deepwater offshore reference located off the coast of Angola, where seawater treatment systems operate in warm and biologically active conditions. The installation provides relevant experience with deaeration and chemical treatment in an operating environment that differs significantly from North Sea conditions.

The Challenge

Deepwater developments require seawater treatment systems that can operate reliably with limited intervention. Warm seawater can also create different biological and process conditions, increasing the importance of effective deaeration, chemical treatment, and stable process control.

The Vulkan Solution

Deaeration reduces dissolved oxygen in the treated seawater, helping limit corrosion in downstream equipment and injection systems. Chemical treatment supports water-quality control and stable long-term operation under challenging offshore conditions.

  • Deepwater treatment delivery
  • Membrane & deaeration technology
  • Performance in warm seawater
  • West Africa operating experience
  • Global footprint reinforcement

The Result

Kaombo provides valuable technical experience from seawater treatment in a deepwater West African environment. The reference broadens Vulkan’s knowledge of how treatment and deaeration systems perform across different seawater temperatures, operating conditions, and offshore environments.
