Yggdrasil Sulphate Removal & Deaeration

A new North Sea development where Vulkan held key process-design roles during FEED — with direct knowledge transfer from Ivar Aasen and Knarr/Rosebank.

New Field, Proven Experience Base

Yggdrasil is a new North Sea development where Vulkan has contributed process engineering expertise to the seawater treatment system, with a focus on sulphate removal, membrane deaeration, chemical dosing, and cleaning systems.

The Challenge

The seawater treatment system must deliver reliable low-sulphate and low-oxygen injection water while maintaining stable membrane performance and efficient operation. For a new installation, it is important to incorporate proven operational knowledge into the design before commissioning and startup.

The Vulkan Solution

The result is an integrated seawater treatment solution designed for reliable offshore operation, combining:

  • Sulphate removal
  • Membrane deaeration
  • Chemical dosing
  • Cleaning-in-place systems
  • Operational experience from existing installations

The Result

Yggdrasil starts with a complete experience base from comparable installations — lowering startup risk and shortening the ramp-up period. A new field that benefits from a decade of fleet-wide learning before its first drop of treated water.
